Joydeep Karmakar is a famous Indian shooter. He qualified for the finals of Men's 50m Rifle prone event scored with 595 points and represented India at Olympics 2012 season. In the finals Joydeep scored 104.1 points with a total of 699. He competed 8 shooters. He was very happy when he got the most prestigious Arjuna award from the Indian Government. During 2010 World Cup he won the silver medal. He started his shooting since in the year 1989. He achieved junior record holder when he was at the age of 14, he won the bronze medal in Senior Open sight rifle. His great achievement Silver at ISSF World Cup Sydney 2010, he got highest score 702.4. In 2010, World Cup Munich event he placed at 8th rank and scored 596 runs. During World Cup Munich 2011 game he got 35th rank and scored 595 points. He has full confidence to win the next event Olympic Games at Rio 2016.

Facts and events about Shooting:

1. In shooting different types of events for both and women consists of  10 ring, Bore, Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Running target, Crossfire, Bull, etc.  At Olympics total 15 events are conducted: 8 for Men and 7 for Women.

2. Qualifying scores for the selection trials for the year 2011: Free rifle prone should be 587 for seniors and 576 for juniors. Air rifle men should be 585 for seniors and 576 for the juniors. For national squad:  593/588 for seniors free rifle prone for the juniors 582 and same score for the seniors in air rifle men and 585 for the Juniors.

According to Indian Shooting news Olympic Gold medalist Abhinav Bindra recommended for the more precious Bharat Ratna award for his wonderful performance. He received a cheque of Rs 2 lakh from South Eastern Railway and he got another reward amount of Rs 25,000 for his london games by the South Eastern railway sports Association.

The (NRAI) National Rifle Association of India announced 11 players in 2012 London Olympics to represent India: Shooting team players are: Abhinav and Gagan for 10m Rifle men, Joydeep for 50m Prone, Vijay Kumar, Ronjan Sodhi, Heena Sidhu, Sanjeev Rajput, Annuraj Singh, Sahgun Chowdhary and Manavjit Singh Sandhu. Joydeep Karmakar news was when he got fourth place at the finals in Men's 50m rifle prone with 60 shots.  India's famous Gagan missed the Men's 10m Air rifle event in ISSF world cup finals event. Gold medal won by Haoran Yang of China, Dempster of USA won the silver and Sergey won bronze of ISR.
