3 Simple Tips To Help You Choose The Right Color For Your Home Photo by Anne Loverly

Although most people prefer bright white living spaces, adding a splash of color creates a warmer and more sophisticated atmosphere in a home.

Striking a balance between relaxed sophistication and engaging pops of color can be a challenge though so here are 5 simple tips to help you choose the right color for you home:

1. Find your inspiration:

To choose color, you first need to know very well what you like and what you don't. Explore art to get inspired. Visit art galleries, shops, and especially go to art museums. Seeing art objects will help define your style and recognize what colors, textures, styles and shapes you prefer most.

2. Take small steps:

If you are not yet ready for a big paint project, start with accessories. Decorate the room with decorative pillows, lamps, art and so on.

Also, don't forget that your home is a reflection of you. If you like to travel and bring home colorful things that you like, do not be afraid to showcase them  - they will be not only a constant remainder of a pleasant trip, but also a topic of conversation when you have guests over.

Another easy way to add color and flair to a wall is by hanging picture frames. If you are looking for a DYI project, spray-paint a collection of mismatched frames. Choose one shade for all of them or hang a variety of hues together to create an arrangement that spices up your wall space.

You can also change a room from blah to bold by adding lively colored furnishings. Neutral walls serve as a great background for vibrant colored nightstands, bookshelves and armchairs.

If you're ready for a bigger step, add a colorful rug or carpet.

3. Choose a color the reflects your personality:

Most people choose clothes that match the color of their skin, hair, eyes and so on. The colors you wear often are the colors that make you feel comfortable. So when choosing colors for your home, surround yourself with those you already using in own wardrobe.

The most important thing you need to remember is that color doesn't have to be permanent. It's only paint and if you don't like it anymore, you can change it anytime!
