Basketball and soccer online betting  are all the rage these days. The two popular sports are definitely taking the biggest slices of the pie known as internet sports betting . But why? And how do these two sports stack up against each other?

Soccer and basketball are two of the most popular sports in the world. Soccer has been around a long time, and with a long-standing international governing body that organizes tournaments that pit countries' representative teams against each other, it is no surprise why the sport have the biggest following in the world.

Basketball, on the other hand, is a fairly new sport. While soccer have been traced to ancient Greece, the basketball has only been invented in 1891. However, the sport has made leap in the last 20 years in terms of growing popularity. The effort that has been put forth by the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the marketing of basketball across countries and continents has resulted to a sport that is truly fast rising.

Team-centered versus star-powered

Among the two sports, soccer is the more team oriented. No matter how good a player may be, he won't be able to dominate a game by himself. The nature of the sport is indeed team-oriented. This is very unlike the sport of basketball wherein one player can have so much impact on the success of a team.

Solid fundamentals versus physical gifts

A soccer player with strong fundamentals will succeed in his sport. He doesn't have to be the fastest or the strongest. In basketball, on the other hand, the advantage of athleticism and physical qualities such as height and strength are more tangible.

Fast-paced versus faster-paced

Although a soccer match can be considered fast-paced due to the constant movement that is happening on the field, it pales in comparison to the pace that basketball games are played. This is mainly due to the rules.

In soccer, you can have a full minute or more without shot attempts. Teams can take all the time the time they need to set up an attack. It’s the type of sport wherein I can get off my sit go to the bathroom or go to the kitchen to grab some snack, and I can be sure that nothing’s going to happen that entire time that would change the game.

In basketball however, there's always a battle against time as a team will have a limited time period wherein there needs to be a shot attempt.
