South India is a tropical delight for tourists. Smart travellers know that there is so much more than just a few popular cities, hill stations and local attractions, though. Somehow, while visiting the typical travel destinations, we forget to cherish the beauty, fun and excitement in these states. South India, though, comes with quite a few surprises that travellers should find out while planning their trips.

When people travel to Karnataka, they visit Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore. Very few, however, embrace the adventure in Coorg and Madikeri. From trekking in the Western Ghats, showering in the Irrupu Falls to bathing elephant in Dubare Elephant camp, the adventurous destinations in Karnataka are clustered with thrilling and adrenaline pumping experiences.  You can go rock climbing on the exciting monoliths of Savandurga, Madhugiri or Ramanagara. Many other options like white river rafting on River Kali, cave exploration at Siddrabetta or Kolar also await you. In short, Karnataka is full of thrilling and entertaining experiences.

When you travel to Kerala, the most popular destinations remain the house boats in Alappuzha and the lush mountains in Munnar. At best, some people add temples in Kochi and water sports on Kovalam Beach to their itinerary.  The beauty of Kerala, though, lies in its beautiful landscape. Go for a romantic stroll through Munnar’s tea gardens or climb to the peak of Meesapulimala – the second highest peak in the Western Ghats. Dip your legs in the turquoise blue waters of Poovar Island or try to catch the glimpse of a tiger, wild elephants, panthers, or the elusive Nilgiri tahr. Other fauna like peacocks, woodpeckers and babblers serve as visual delights for travellers. When you travel to Kerala, you must check out the Nilgiri Biosphere reserve.

Tamil Nadu, on the other hand, is popular for the extensive list of beautiful temples it boasts. Yet, their beaches are actually the most breath-taking attractions. Some of the popular cities in that state include Chennai, Madurai, Rameshwaram and Tiruchirappali. When traveling to Tamil Nadu, though, your trip cannot be complete without a visit to Kanyakumari.  Kanyakumari beach, Covelong beach, Mahabalipuram beach and Vattakottai beach are just a few of the perfect backdrops offered for romantic evenings. Tanjavur, the capital of ancient Tamil Nadu comes with centuries of historical architecture to explore. When you sum it all up, this mystic land of historic architecture and Chennai silk is truly gorgeous.

Andhra Pradesh, another integral part of South India, is known for its capital – Hyderabad. This city boasts many of the most opulent royal residences of the Nizzam, which are available for the tourists to stay in. The heart and soul of this state, though, lies in its religious centres. With names like the Tirumala Venkateshwara temple in Chitoor, the Pancharama temples, Srisailam temple in Kornool, Buddha in Husain Nagar lake and Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad being featured, these pulsating religious centres serve as perfect destinations for the most travellers. With all these experiences, get ready to explore the tropical beauty of South Indian tours for truly momentous memories.
