The two-year post-secondary program in computer systems technician – networking helps students get out into the job market sooner. This fast-track course incorporates the latest in computer systems and network technology, and prepares students for jobs in technical support from the growing mesh of internet, intranet, extranet and telecom networks.

Choosing the Right Program

A number of colleges in Canada offer programs in computer systems technician – networking. Unfortunately, not all are accredited. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to choose a college carefully.

Centennial College’s program in computer networking has received national accreditation status by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB). It has also met the national technology accreditation requirements established by the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT).

In addition to this, the program is also recognized by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

Admission Requirements

In order to apply for this program, students will need:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • English Grade 12 C or University or equivalent
  • Mathematics Grade 11 M or 12 C or University or equivalent

Students currently in high school can also apply for this program. Their midterm and final term scores will be directly transmitted to the college. Qualified college or university graduates with a background in computer networks are eligible to gain direct admission into semester three of this two-year program. They can receive their computer systems technician – diploma in two semesters.

The graduates of this program can choose to either pursue their careers or apply their credits towards more advanced courses in computer networking at the university. They may also transfer to the college’s three-year technology advanced diploma.
