It is an old saying that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. It does not apply only to personal hygiene, but also to how we maintain our household. It is not important how rich or poor we are. Cleanliness is more about habits and lifestyle.

First and foremost issue found in middle class households is about clutter. If you want to have a clean household, wage a war against clutter. It is human tendency to hold on to things even when we do not really require as it takes a sense of initiative to dispose them off. Even if there are things that you need to stock for future use, ensure that they are kept in clean conditions. Do not let water collect and regularly take measures for mosquito control.

In most Asian countries, dust is a constant enemy. You would notice dust collecting on your furniture and devices even within hours of doing dusting. Even small things such as using a foot mat outside the door and keeping shoes separately in shoe rack can help in this regard. Keep all things in their respective containers and avoid throwing things randomly.

Even if you do not wish to spend heavily on décor, just maintaining discipline and order can help you have a pleasant home ambience. Not many people are aware that the home surroundings play an important role in determining the state of our minds.
