Wires and cable manufacturers in India are promoting their products as shock and fire proof. Before going to the manufacturer’s side, the users need to know some basics regarding electrical house wiring. Precaution is always better than cure. Home wiring is not a child's play, it is very critical as it can be very hazardous. Poor wiring can be detrimental to you as well as your surroundings. Thus, it is imperative to know the below mentioned elements before you deal with wiring.

One must understand that electricity is a powerful force. Even professionals are scared of dealing with high voltage electrical components. Safety is of paramount importance when one is dealing with electrical components. Make sure that the power is turned off when you are installing or examining house wiring. If cutting of the entire power supply is not possible, then at least cut the power to the area which is being worked on. In certain cases there are strict rules and regulations pertaining to residential wiring. These laws are framed by the legal authorities of the particular area hence need to be adhered to. Instead of considering them as a hurdle they need to be followed religiously, as the laws have been enforced as safety measures.

Wires and Cables have some basic components like service entry, panel board and branch circuits. The service entry connects your house to the main grid. This point should be installed at least ten feet higher than ground level to prevent it from any contact with water. The panel board is the nerve centre when it comes to wiring. It has all the controls, so whenever you want toggle the power supply, use the panel board. Branch circuits allow you to cut the power to a specific area, hence they need to be installed strategically. Electrical house wiring should be handled by professionals, thus hire an electrician to do the job.

There are five types of wires and cables generally used in home wiring. The triplex wire connects to the main electricity supply pole. The main feeder wires are THHN wires which come out of the service head. Panel feed wires work against the rising amperes and protect the wire. Non metallic sheathed wire is the most commonly used house wire. Single strand wire is used in case of piped homes. Taking precautionary measures is a must, thus one must pick the right brand of wires along with following the above mentioned basics.
