As one ages a person may try many creams and remedies to retain a youthful appearance. With so many products on the market it can be difficult to decide on what will work for you. Usually there are many underlying problems that cause premature aging and fine lines that can be addressed with the right skin care products. Whether one is looking for the best eye cream or best overall anti-aging cream, the choice begins with discovering one’s skin type and what products work best for that particular type.

One of the best ways to fight the effects of aging is to attack it first by getting skin as clean and clear as possible. Everyone has a different type of skin and the first step is identifying the skin type and if there are other issues like splotchiness, psoriasis or other dermatological problems. Once these problems have been addressed with over the counter or prescription ointments or facial washes, the next step is to revitalize the skin with products specially made for one’s skin type. Finally the application of eye creams or anti-aging creams can occur. Applying these before underlying problems are dealt with will reduce their effectiveness.

Some people have very dry skin. Before any eye creams or anti-aging creams can be effective it’s important to use other skin care products first. Someone with dry skin will want to use a good exfoliator that removes dry skin flakes and makes the face feel refreshed. Then a potent moisturizer can be applied to revive the skin. After these products are applied and the skin is revitalized, then some of the anti-aging products can be applied. Some of these creams are amazing and can smooth, firm and soften the skin. They do differ in ingredients but a number of the best creams contain Vitamin A and Retinol. Some contain various natural ingredients such as olive oil that are great for providing Vitamin E for the skin.

Other people have oily skin or skin prone to acne. In this case they should also use cleansers, exfoliators and moisturizers to revitalize the skin and prepare it for application of an acid product such as a salicylic acid chemical peel. This peel gets rid of the dirt and oils that can clog pores and leaves people with skin that’s refreshed and that is stimulated with new collagen and cell production. People with acne prone skin especially receive many benefits from salicylic acid skin care products as these products are highly effective for unclogging pores. As soon as the skin is clean and clear, then anti-aging and eye creams will be able to produce the desired effects.

Ideally it would be a good idea for anyone interested in fighting the signs of aging to consult a dermatologist or other skin care specialist. These professionals are familiar with the products necessary to get the best results in each individual’s situation. Simply purchasing and applying anti-aging or eye creams without advance preparation won’t allow a person to battle the real cause of dry, oily or combination skin. Anti-aging products need clean and revitalized skin to be most effective.
