Audi A4 FSI Engine Responds Well
The BMW's 3-Series has dominated its class in the supremacy in compact premium saloons; its sales were higher than Mercedes-Benz's C-Class and Audi's A4. By the passage of time, Audi gradually made its way up and now it claims that the current version of the A4 is so good that it will shorten the lead of BMW's 3-Series. This time, the dynamic performance has been improved by revising the gearbox and increasing the firepower. This Audi A4 is loaded with all the gadgetries that are never seen previously on any A4 before and are required to take the lead. The main features include the adjustable settings for suspension, steering and throttle response, blind spot mirrors, active steering, motorway lane assistance and comfort-cooled front seats.
There's a three-zone climate control system and a digital hi-fi sound system of 'Bang & Olufsen' with 10 speakers. The new A4 comes with a variety of diesel engines that range from 134bhp to 175bhp. There are 118bhp 1.8-litre TFSI and 2.0-litre 168bhp and 208bhp TFSI petrol engines. There is another 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that makes a rigorous 328bhp, while the diesel V6 3.0-litre engine produces 201bhp and 237bhp. The engine with higher specifications comes with quattro four-wheel drive, whilst the lower-power diesel engines of either capacity go with multitronic combustion variable transmission/ 8-speed automatic gearbox. Otherwise they have dual clutches or the 6-speed manual gearboxes.
It does resemble the looks of 1986's Audi 80 aerodynamics, if you only look at its figure and proportion. It does not feel as original as it should with all those mechanical and styling evolutions made. But many of the buyers like the idea of having Audi's look of one basic design in various sizes which gives the advantage of not dating too fast. The wheelbase is extended due to the shorter front overhang, leaving insignificant impact on overall dimensions. The front axles have been moved forward thus allowing the engine to be positioned even further behind the front wheel, the clutch and differential have also been changed.
The Audi A4 118bhp 1.8-litre TFSI is one of the best engines, dispatching 62mph in just 8.0 seconds. If you want a 2.0-litre TFSI engine then you will get an engine from Golf GTI which sprints to 62mph in around 6.0 seconds. The S4 model comes with a 328bhp 3.0-litre V6 supercharger with a top speed of 155mph. As per Audi's claim, the sprint from still to 62mph takes just 5.1 seconds and 50-75mph in just 4.4 seconds. This Audi A4 is much better than its predecessors, the styling and handling is much improved, making it a hot cake.
