When you plan to enter Dubai for whatever purposes, you will need a Dubai visa. This particular aspect of entrance is highly guarded and strictly monitored to eliminate the unwelcome elements. A part of this screening process is the attested medical certificate. Medical tests are required for people who want to obtain:

• Employment visa for Dubai
• Residence visa for Dubai
• Student visa for Dubai

The primary focus of these medical tests is on detecting sexually transmitted diseases. But, certain groups get tested for certain diseases, while others don’t. If you need a Medical certificate for visa, you will be tested for diseases based on the type of visa you applied for.  Following are the list of diseases that most expats will likely be tested for:

• HIV
• Hepatitis B
• Leprosy
• Syphilis
• Tuberculosis

What would happen, though, if any of these expats are found positive? In most cases, they will be immediately deported. In some cases, they will be offered some form of the treatment before proceeding further.  You must understand that the Dubai health authority is very strict when it comes to the medical certificates for the visa. Yet, a quick check on the latest rules and regulations on this subject is essential before you go ahead with your trip plans.

A Dubai medical for visa will cost you. This medical, though, is not applicable to everyone coming to Dubai. Non-UAE Family members of UAE nationals are not tested. But employees are tested when they apply for a new visa and when they apply for visa renewals as well. Women get tested for pregnancy along with other tests. If women are found pregnant, the approval of their visa depends upon their sponsor, who is their employer, in most cases.

How are these medical tests done?

You must schedule an appointment at a local clinic approved by Dubai Health Authority (DHA). You can schedule this appointment by either visiting personally or via their website and making the online payment. Then, you must visit along with certain documents such as:

• Valid passport
• Photos
• Government issued health card (optional)
• Employment offer letter

Though, you can book the appointment online, you need to show up personally at the clinic for those medical tests. After the testing is complete, you must attest these results of the medical tests from the centre itself. Nowadays, attestation service will cost you additional expenses over the medical testing charges.  But, it is essential that you make the copy as your employer is likely to retain the originals for his reference.
