It’s a pretty open secret in the motor industry that Honda cars are well engineered and reliable. Many people buy Honda cars solely based on their record for reliability. However like all complex machines they are not infallible and they can develop minor faults that can worsen over time if not spotted and corrected. If you own a new or used Honda it’s important to get your car serviced regularly by a trusted professional. So how do you find out who to trust with all of your servicing needs?

If you’ve purchased a brand new Honda car, service issues may be initially addressed with some free servicing vouchers. It’s good idea to take advantage of these services, try to make sure that you don’t miss any. These will last a while and will probably cover all of your basic needs, however after this period has ended you will have to make your own servicing arrangements. If you have a second hand Honda vehicle then you may have some service history already. If the vehicle hasn’t been serviced in a while it’s a good idea to get it looked at and assessed for any potential problems.

When searching for a new mechanic to take care of your car, find out if they do scheduled servicing for your models log book. This is a good initial indicator that the company that you’re dealing with has familiarity with your specific vehicle. The reason for this is that log book servicing is proof that your potential mechanic understands and complies with all the manufacturers’ specifications.  If you have an older model then you probably don’t need log book servicing but, the fact that the mechanic provides it is still a good sign that your car is in good hands.

Another consideration when choosing a good mechanic is if they provide a quote in writing prior to commencing any work. Also do they have a warranty on any work carried out that includes both parts and labour. If they do provide a warranty then how long does the warranty cover in terms of kilometres of usage or is it a set period of time. If the Honda car service is for a hybrid vehicle then you will need to find out whether or not the mechanic is familiar with hybrid vehicles.

If you want to take the guess work out of choosing where to have your care serviced you could opt to use a Honda Car Service Centre. It’s not too hard to find a centre in most places as Honda is one of the most popular makes of car in the world. The obvious advantage to using Honda to service your vehicle is their intimate familiarity with your make and model of vehicle. The servicing may be a little pricier than the local garage but you know that your car is in good hands. Of course if you choose to use a third party for your servicing this will not invalidate your new car warranty as stated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
