There are several organizations, online and offline, that help you scan and attest your documents. There are different kinds of services that complete the document attestation process for you. A local service or a global website – use any of the range of services to get your document attestation work done. So, what is the basic information that you need to know?

Types of attestations:
There are three types of document attestation services:

• State attestation: A suitable state-level authority should attest these documents. For example: A school leaving certificate – an education certificate should be attested by state education department.

• MEA attestation: Once, it is authorised by suitable state authorities have attested the documents, use apostile or MEA attestation to legalize certain document in particular format. Once it is apostiled, it is acceptable in all the 92 nations. Though, the document is acceptable by all nations that belong to Hague convention, this attestation is acceptable by major western countries. 

• Embassy attestation: This attestation is executed after the apostile.

The type of documents:
The main types of documents attestation are as follows:

• Educational documents: mark sheets, degree certificates transcript certificates and transfer certificates, etc. 

• Personal documents:  These are important personal proceedings in the lives of people such as birth, marriage, medical, police clearance, power of attorney, etc.

• Commercial documents: These are important business documents such as physical and chemical analysis reports of products, business registration, certificate of business incorporation, memorandums of associations, invoices, power of attorney, etc.

Document attestation process:
• Get all the documents attested by the state department authorities.

• Submit the original documents, photocopies of documents and photocopy of the passport to local or global document attestation service for MEA attestation.

• The additional certificates and photocopies should be carried and submitted as per the requirement.

• Collect the attested certificates from the attestation service centre.
