It is believed that only 2% of flights are qualifying for compensation and very few people in the United Kingdom are aware of their rights and the fact that they can claim Compensation for Delayed Flights under the European Regulation.

The European Regulation 261/2004 was introduced in February 2005. The regulation was enforced so that a passenger who has been subject to a flight delay or cancellation would have rights when claiming Flight Compensation. These regulations apply to anyone whose flight departed or arrived in an airport within a European Member State and if the flight was operated by a European airline.

If the delay has caused your arrival at your destination to be at least 3 hours late then you can claim EU Airline Delay Compensation. The compensation is fixed, regardless of the flight cost. The longer the delay, the more Flight Compensation you get! For example, for a flight length up to 1,500km (e.g. London to Paris) with a flight delay of 3 hours or more you can claim 250 Euros. For a flight length between 1500km and 3500km between two EU member states (e.g. Manchester to Malaga) with a flight delay of 3 hours or more then you can claim 400 Euros. If you were flying between any EU and non-EU airport (but flying with a European airline) 3500km or more and your delay was over 4 hours then you could claim back 600 Euros of Flight Delay Compensation. Therefore a flight between London and New York delayed over 4 hours would entitle each passenger to 600 Euros worth of Flight Compensation.

In February 2013, EC regulation 261/2004 was tightened so that every country now has a statue of limitation period dependent on the way the juridical process works. This defines how long a passenger has to make a claim. For example in England, Northern Ireland and Wales you can claim back six years, Scotland five years, Spain ten years. Since this ruling, more and more people are coming forward to claim Compensation for Delayed Flights dating back as far as six years. However, the process of making compensation claims successful and in favour of the passenger requires expert knowledge of the field and a team of legal professionals to fight your case in court. The airlines are not going to hand the money over so easily. 95% of compensation claims go through the courts meaning that a mere 5% of claims are settled without court action. Companies like Blueway Limited are there to assist passengers along the process of claiming back compensation by doing all of the work on your behalf. You can rely on their experience, knowledge and sophisticated flight data systems to recover your money and have it credited into your bank account. Claiming back EU Airline Delay Compensation really is not difficult if you seek the help of companies like Blueway Limited to guide you along the process.
