Mahesh Bhupathi goes by many titles- ace tennis player, acclaimed ladies’ man, co-owner of Big Daddy Productions et al. Though a while ago, he was primarily known as the best doubles players in the world, at present, he is the guy that married actress and former Miss Universe, Lara Dutta.

Mahesh Bhupathi started in the tennis field, dominating the 90s and the 00s, as the one of the top doubles players. He bagged three doubles titles which included the French Open and Wimbeldon, with his then tennis partner Leander Paes- a partnership that reaped solid benefits in the years that followed. On 26th April of 1999, the duo’s lethal combination was rewarded when they were adjudged the world’s numero uno doubles team. Bhupathi made and broke many such alliances, but none as compatible as the one he shared with Paes. Meanwhile he took a partner in his personal life as well- model, Shvetha Jaishankar. But like all associations that are not built on a strong foundation, his marriage to Shvetha fell apart and the couple divorced after seven years of matrimony.

Bhupathi and Martina Hingis paired up to capture the championship title in the Australian Open mixed doubles competition. This was his sixth mixed double Grand Slam Title and a significant highlight in Mahesh Bhupathi profile; it was a successful completion of a career Grand Slam in the mixed doubles category. The 2007 to 2008 season saw Bhupathi win the Canada Masters after teaming up with Pavel Vizner. Towards the end of the season, Bhupathi was troubled by an ailing back which forced him stay out of the game till for a while. In 2009, Bhupathi found a new partner in fellow Indian tennis player- Sania Mirza. They went on to participate in the mixed doubles at the Australian Open and brought home the trophy having beat Nathalie Dechy and  Andy Ram at the finals. There was short period of time when Bhupathi reunited with his former partner Leander Paes for the Australian Open in 2011 but was unsuccessful in capturing a title. But his reformed alliance with another ex-tennis partner- Sania Mirza, helped him add another Grand Slam title to his repertoire- the mixed doubles at the French Open.

Around this time he decided to give marriage another try and tied the knot with Bollywood actress Lara Dutta. Though this didn’t exactly do wonders to Mahesh Bhupathi’s statistics, he was blessed with a more profound title- that of a ‘father’.
