A big part of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is articles. Despite the fact that Google has done much to discourage article directories and other such tools, articles still serve a purpose. Any SEO company worth their salt will spend a considerable amount of time writing various articles and blogs.

Let us look at how they go about creating the perfect SEO article.

The Google Guidelines

Good SEO requires a complete understanding of Google’s guidelines on SEO. It is a fact that Google has clamped down on many conventional practices used to promote websites in the Google search engine. Article marketing used to be the be all and end all of promotion. This is not the case any longer.

These days, articles have to have an actual point. They cannot be generic and filled with keywords. This is why when we talk about articles what we are really referring to are helpful blogs. Article directories and other link farms are a thing of the past.

Watch Your Keywords

Anyone who has ever worked with an SEO consultant knows keywords are what make an article an SEO article. However, you have to be careful with how you use them. Previously, it was a case of simply adding lots of keywords and hoping for the best. Now, you only need to add a natural phrase one or two times. Anything more and you are risking penalisation from Google.

Opt for synonyms in your content. You do not have to rigorously stick to a certain combination of words. If a combination of words fails to fit naturally into a sentence, it is better for SEO if you do not use them at all.

Where Should You Publish Your Articles?

Where you put an article is just as important as what you put in the article. Previously, it was a matter of placing your article on a specialist website, such as Ezine Articles. It is better to do the exact opposite now.

Article directories have negative reputations and their SEO value was destroyed. An article on one of these websites is almost completely irrelevant. Few members of the audience you are targeting will ever visit one of these websites to view what you are writing about.

The goal is to post them on a relevant website close to you. Promotion is no longer passive. It is about using social media to promote content directly to customers. This is how you create a buzz, which will lead to your SEO rank increasing automatically.

Is SEO the Point?

Change your mind set. SEO articles should be written for the person reading it not Google. Guru Matt Cutts from Google said this about a year ago. He said Google wants webmasters to publish content without keeping SEO in mind. They are steadily moving towards a point where SEO will happen passively, rather than actually targeting it.

The next time you decide to use a digital agency in Glasgow you will notice the entirety of the SEO mindset has changed, and most people agree it has changed for the betterment of all.
