A great resume is one thing that can help one survive in the highly competitive job market. If one wants the attention of the employer, he or she should ensure that they have a resume that stands out from the rest. The process of creating a great resume is very easy as long as one follows the correct procedure.

The first thing to do when writing a resume is to define what kind of job they are writing it for. The job seekers should identify the requirements for the opportunity so that they can know how to impress the employer. A great resume should have a content that matches with the job requirement.
The first part of a resume should be the real name of the applicant. The names on the curriculum vitae used should be the ones that are stated in the birth certificate or passport. The name can be written in bold and centered so as to catch the attention of the employer.

The other component of a great curriculum vitae should be the career attributes or objectives. These should be stated very simply and if more than one, they should be listed in bullets points rather than being put on one paragraph.

Professional experience that is related to the job should not be left out. It is advisable to start with the most recent employment and then follow with the others. The experience should state the name of the company, the date when one joined the company, the date one left and the duties carried out. One can put more emphasis by bolding the name of the company.

Skills that could benefit the company should also be included. Personal attributes that are relevant to the position can be listed too. This would include things like excellent communication skills and team player among many others.

Once one has understood all the concepts of how to write a good resume, he or she can look at a few samples on the internet or from friends and colleagues so as to have a better understanding.
