Pick You Favorite Recipe Photo by Shiang Wong

One of my favorite things to do is to watch Food Network on TV. This is where I get a lot of my inspirations. I will print the recipes off of the things I liked and sometimes I will tweak the recipe to fit our family's tastes.

If you are anything like me, you have hundreds of cookbooks and I use a lot of them.  For birthdays or Christmas I will order cookbooks of the cooking stars I know the people like and give them as gifts. One of my favorite stars of course is Paula Deen and her cookbooks are very easy to read as is most of her recipes. But as far as cookbooks go, I just about collect all southern style books. I don't like gourmet foods and neither does anyone in my family so buying a gourmet cookbook would not be interesting to me. If your going to get fancy don't include me. I like the southern frying, buttering, fattening foods. I guess that's why Paula and I have so much in common, she is a fanatic about butter and she is truly a southern cook. There are recipes, however, that are kind of fancy but still can be southern.

One of my favorite things to do is to watch Food Network on TV. This is where I get a lot of my inspirations. I will print the recipes off of the things I liked and sometimes I will tweak the recipe to fit our family's tastes. Then on the weekends I will go through my recipe books and decide what I want to cook for church that week or for my family. The best thing about Food Network is that you can get a recipe on line if you need it 24/7 and you can choose which recipe you want by the stars that submitted it.

Of course my main recipe book is the one that came from my family. Hand me downs from Mother and Grandmother. The sad thing about that is that they hardly ever wrote a recipe down so I don't have very many of them.

I try to keep up a blog with articles about the food I cook and the special things I bake with pictures. Most of the items came from the recipes from Food Network and the TV programs.

One of the best ways to relieve stress is to cook, especially baking. Baking is an art and you have to be alert and paying attention to the recipes to make sure you get it right. One half teaspoon of the wrong thing could be disastrous.
