Thailand is an upcoming thriving country with lots of opportunities being presented in the education sector. So if you are travelling to Thailand to pursue your education, you will need to apply for an education visa Thailand. Here we give you the process to apply for the education visa.

Understanding the requirements

Before you apply for an Education Visa Thailand, you need to get your invitation letter from the school or institute you have applied for. This is a crucial part of the visa application process, and without this, you will not be able to start your process. Each university in Thailand follows internal rules which are different from the local institutes. You can always contact the institute for further details if you haven’t received your offer letter.

Documents required.

People of every nationality can apply for a one-year Non-Immigrant Education visa. Please note that people of nationalities of Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Sri-Lanka and Middle Eastern countries must apply from their country of origin. The standard set of documents you will need for your visa application are as follows:

• Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months

• Visa application form completely filled out

• Recent  photograph of the applicant

• Recommendation letter addressed to the Consulate

• Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or travel agency or copy of airline tickets.

• Letter of acceptance from the concerned academic institute/organization

• For those wishing to study in a Private institution, an official letter from the Ministry of Education of Thailand, or other sub-authorities concerned, approving the enrolment of foreign students and a copy of registration certificate of the concerned academic institute are required

• Academic record and the Student ID (if currently studying)

• For those wishing to attend seminar, or training session, or internship,  a recommendation letter from the concerned organization addressed to the Consulate is also required

• Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary.

It normally takes 3- 4 days to process the visa. The visa fee is 2000 Baht which is subjected to changes. the validity of the visa is 3 months, whereas the period of stay can be a maximum period of 90 days. You can also apply for an extension of stay. The extension of the fee is 1900 Baht for three months. You can also extend the stay for over a period of one year, from the date of the first entry into Thailand

If the education visa application form is rejected by the Ministry of Education, the school or institute will contact the applicant within one week of rejection and notify applicant for reason of rejection and tuition fee will be refunded except administration fee of 3,000 Thai Baht.
