If you are travelling to the city of Dubai, there are certain documents you need to apply for. This includes the documents for a Dubai National ID. This national ID card is very useful for long term residents as well as citizens of this country. Getting one is Mandatory:

As part of the EIDA Registration, you will need to apply for a Dubai National ID if you are planning to stay long term in this city. You can now conduct any transactions and procedures with the swipe of this card, and it will be recorded in a database in which a copy is sent to the Ministry of Interior, Emirates ID Authority and General Directorate of Residencywill receive. This is to ensure that there is no cause of fraud in any transactions, and both the citizens and governments have a thorough understanding and precise record of all the transactions that has occurred.

Replacement as travel documents to the GCC countries

As part of the visa agreement rules, those who are residents of Dubai need not apply for a Dubai visa. Instead, they can use the Emirates ID, as an official form of visa document to travel to these countries. There will be faster clearances at the entry and exit points across the airports around the Gulf regions.

Applying for the Dubai National ID is a simple process with the EIDA Registration. All you need to do is take an appointment at the nearest center, and submit your biometrics and certain documents. You will have to pay a fee of AED 100 and for the renewal AED 100 for each additional year. Once this is done, you can wait till you receive your id card or you can subscribe for status updates for an additional charge and get alerts for your ID card status.
