Cockroaches. Just saying the word Cockroach, can elicit a horror factor in anyone and everyone who just thinks of these creepy crawly pests. If you have them in your home, you need to figure out why they are there and how they got into your home then correct it. Immediately.

What Is Going On?

When you walk into a room and flip on the light, the last thing you want to see are cockroaches scurrying for cover. There are a lot of reasons why cockroaches might decide to invade your home. Most of the time cockroaches are associated with cleanliness, and while an unclean home is more likely to attract cockroaches, that doesn’t mean they won’t sneak into a clean one.

Cockroaches can also remain active year round – there is no down time during winter. They may have gotten in through any cracks or crevices in your home, vents, and even sewer or drain pipes. Cockroaches are even sneaky enough to be brought in by us! They hitch rides on boxes, bags, and sometimes even on clothing!

What Do They Want?

Cockroaches are like any other living organism. As frustrating as they may be, in truth they want the same things we want: a comfortable place to live and be safe from predators, a place that offers food and water, and a place to nest and lay eggs. Our homes can often provide them with all of these things even if we don’t know it. There may be a pipe somewhere that drips – this provides them with water. There are all sorts of places they can hide and nest, and homes are often much warmer than the outdoors.

Cockroaches are also nocturnal, so if you see multiple cockroaches during the day, it may actually mean that they have been forced out due to overcrowding. This can mean that there is a serious pest problem that you cannot see and you should contact someone immediately.

Now What?

Once you know what the cockroaches are there for, it’s time to discover how to get rid of them and how to keep them out. A good pest control company can do these things for you. A thorough inspection may lead to the discovery of cracks, open vents, or other areas where cockroaches can get inside. The exterminator can then find out where the cockroaches may be hiding and will give you a full plan on how he will get rid of them and what can be done to fix your home so they stay out.

You may think to yourself, “I’ve only seen one cockroach – surely it got in by mistake.” Don’t take that chance. Get a free pest evaluation to discover what is truly going on in your home and get the problem taken care of quickly and efficiently.
