Pests can range from a variety of insects to different wild animal species. From termites to hornets, skunks to cockroaches, there are many different types of creatures out there that just might decide to stay in or around your home if conditions are right. There are a lot of ways that you can help secure your home against various pests, but sometimes there are some that will manage to sneak in no matter what.

Start your clean up in the areas of your home that might attract various insects or animals. Sealing cracks, patching holes, clearing out mulch or dead plant debris – all of these can help keep pests out of your house.

Another way to ensure they don’t decide to come in is by removing possible food sources. Termites like wood – make sure your firewood is away from your home. Ants enjoy all sorts of human foods – keep jar lids tightly shut and all spills cleaned up. Raccoons decide your garbage is delectable – look into buying a new garbage bin that they can’t chew through and will lock up tight. Take away water sources as well, such as patching leaky pipes or removing standing water in gutters or near your home. By doing these things you can discourage insects and animals from viewing your home as their own and you can stay pest-free.

Missing Something

Sometimes it isn’t always possible to find every source of water that insects might enjoy, or every little cubbyhole near your home that will entice wild animals. A good example is the pocket gopher. These little gophers can do a great deal of damage in a surprising amount of time, leaving lawns and gardens devastated. Keeping them out of your yard may not be possible – unless you are able to take the time and effort to bury a mesh fence almost two feet beneath the soil around the perimeter of your lawn.

While attempting to deter or exclude different pests is not always possible, don’t dwell on that fact. You may go your entire life never having to deal with particular pests. But should you discover that a bee nest has been built while you were on vacation, then it’s definitely time to call in the professionals.

Pest Free, Environmentally Responsible

Getting free of pests again doesn’t have to be a hassle. Highly trained professionals who know the industry will be able to give you quality evaluations so you know what is going on in your home, what they can do about it, and what to expect. Make sure to hire a green pest control company as they will use products that are far better for the environment as well as your home, family, and pets. Low impact and green products pose no risk and are much more responsible than companies that still use chemicals and pesticides.

If you suspect you have an unwanted guest in your home, contact a quality pest control company and find out what can be done. After all – this is the Sunshine State! You have better things to do than worry about pests.
