Audi R8 V10 plus – The Ultimate R8

Audi has revamped its R8 supercar and a new version has been added to the range. The Audi R8 V10 plus adds 25bhp to the standard V10. R8 now churns out 543bhp from its 5.2litre engine. The weight has been reduced too as carbon fiber has been used extensively in the making of the new car. It has a seven speed S tronic automatic gearbox, which features Quattro four wheel drive and a launch control give you a car capable of rocketing from 0-62mph in just 3.5seconds. R8 is also available in an open gated manual gearbox which will save you almost £3000 but you will probably pay more for replacement brakes in the longer run. The manual car is also slower and emits more CO2. The last R8 had a single-clutch manual R tronic gearbox but it had flaws. Audi has improved these flaws in the new automatic gearbox and it is sure to become the obvious choice for its customers.

Fade resistant carbon ceramic brakes come as standard so you can brake harder and longer than in the older version. The new brakes give you a peace of mind and allow you to make the most of the chassis upgrade carried out by Audi. The V10 plus has tighter body control thanks to its hardened sports suspension. Although this makes the car less comfortable on bumpy roads. The styling makes sure that it is an eye catcher. The optional metallic blue matt paint and designing tweaks take the R8 further from its showy designing. It also features redesigned front and rear bumpers which now have full LED lights. The front splitter, rear diffuser wing mirrors all get carbon fiber treatment. It is priced at £127,575 and has a top speed of 197mph. The CO2 emissions are 299g/km and fuel economy is 21.9mpg. The interior is luxurious too as you get R8 bucket seats in fine Nappa leather, sat-nav and Bang and Olufsen stereo.

These upgrades don’t come cheap as you add £12,000 premium over the standard V10. Having said that, this premium is totally worth paying as you get the ultimate R8. Though the Audi R8 has grown old in age but it has been kept fresh thanks to the cosmetic tweaks here and there. Recently, optional S-tronic automatic transmission has also boosted the R8 range. An even more powerful V10 has also been added to the range which doesn’t compromise much on the comfort while returning a more focused driving experience. However, the V10 Spyder returns the best blend of comfort and performance making it the top choice.
