Lighting Up

It does not matter whether your car is an import or domestic, every single car is equipped with a series of lights on the dashboard that light up in certain situations. No one likes to see those lights illuminated, and there are some people who fail to take those lights seriously, which is not really the best idea.

Each light will mean something different, so whether you have just bought your import car or have owned it for several years, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the different lights on the dashboard so you know what needs to be done should one of them light up.

What Does It Mean?

Cars tend to use a lot of universal symbols to make it easier to distinguish when something is going on with your automobile. There are lights for your oil pressure, engine temperature, brakes, seatbelt, battery, air bags, low fuel, door ajar, cruise control, check engine light, and more.

Most of these lights are easy to understand. Because the majority of them are associated with a specific function, if the light turns on you immediately know that part needs to be examined.

If you find the door ajar light on, make sure all the doors are shut. If your engine temperature light turns on, your engine is getting too hot and you need to immediately stop and let it cool down. There may be a problem with your coolant system, or you simply may be low on coolant. If the air bag light is on, it means your air bags will not deploy and you should have your car looked at to find out what the problem is.

What to Do

If one of these lights should come on, it is best to visit your Houston auto import repair center to discover and fix the issue.
