Lead recycling is where you recycle things that have lead in them. Lead is a soft malleable poor metal. It is counted as one of the heavy metals. Metallic lead, after being freshly cut has a bluish-white color, but when exposed to air, it tarnishes to a dull grayish color.

Applications of Lead  Lead is used in building construction in the shape of lead sheets, lead-acid batteries, bullets and shots, lead pipes, cable sheathing, lead clad steel, lead powder, lead alloys, lead in glass, lead for ceramics, lead pigments, lead wool etc.

Lead Acid Battery Recycling  A major source of lead is from the recycling of ULAB that is used in lead acid batteries. The lead-acid battery has been the most widely used rechargeable portable power source. Most batteries are constructed of lead plates, or grids, where one of the grids, that is the positive electrode, is coated with lead-dioxide in a particular crystalline form, along with additives such as calcium lignosulfate. The electrolyte composed of sulfuric acid, participates in the electrode reactions where lead sulfate is formed. In terms of capacity in use, the lead-acid battery has 20 times as much capacity as either nickel-cadmium or nickel-iron battery.

Lead Recycling  Lead acid batteries contain lead bearing raw material inside the PVC or rubber containers. For recycling, PVC and other materials need to be segregated from lead bearing raw materials. For this purpose, processes of Battery Cutting or Crushing are adopted. The Battery Cutting Machine cuts battery from top and separates polypropylene container and other materials from Battery. In this machine, batteries of similar sizes are loaded manually. Batteries proceed forward on motorized conveyor where circular hacksaw blades cut the top of the battery as well as its inside connections. After cutting the top cover, the battery comes out of the chamber and falls on the floor which leads to removal of top cover and battery container. The plates and other materials from inside the battery are thus collected and used as raw material for smelting.

In Battery Crushing, batteries of all sizes are loaded on the conveyor and fed into Hammer Mill. Batteries are crushed into smaller pieces and particles are collected at the bottom of the Hammer Mill in a container. The container is already filled with water solution of specific gravity. The plastic material floats on top of the water solution and lead bearing scraps settles at the bottom in the container. The plastic is removed from the top with the help of water jet system. The bottom of the container is fitted with screw conveyor for discharge outlet for lead bearing scrap. The lead bearing scrap is conveyed through screw conveyor to a vibrating screen, where large particles are retained and collected. They are further dried and used as raw material for smelting unit. The fine particles at the bottom of the container are kept in agitation and after that passed through the filter press to form a cake. This cake is further dried and used as a raw material for smelting unit.

Lead recycling companies India is famous for Lead Recycling . Some of them are as follows: Jarsons Metal- It is one of the biggest Lead Metal Refinery for pure lead and lead alloys. The other companies are Global Minerals Pvt. Ltd, Mody Brothers, Exim India etc. Lead recycling companies India is characterized by the presence of only a few companies in the primary segment
