So much for the return. It hasn't even been a month since the NBA season started and Derrick Rose is now facing another big predicament in his career and the Chicago Bulls are staring at the future filled with uncertainty.

The former MVP who missed the entire previous season while recovering from the ACL injury has suffered another setback with another serious injury. This time, it is a torn meniscus in his right knee that could take him out for the rest of the season.

The injury happened on Friday when the team played against the Portland Trailblazers. It was late in the third quarter and Rose was making a backdoor cut and trying to receive a pass when his knee seemed to have buckled. He limped off the court and went to the sidelines and had to be assisted while heading to the locker room. There wasn't any details released at that time, but the non-contact nature of the injury had many fans and basketball personalities worried about the status of the Bulls' franchise player.

On Saturday, the fear was realized when the injury report came out. Rose has opted for a reconstructive surgery with the recovery estimated to last around 4-6 months. The team has already released a statement that their star point guard will be missing the rest of the season.

So with the nature of the injury cleared and the length of his absence already determined, what is going to happen to the Bulls this season?

Rose is the best offensive weapon that the team has. Losing him is certainly going to be a very big blow to the ability of the team to compete against the elite teams in the league. Any talks about championship contention will have to be postponed for now. Still, with so many weak teams in the east, the Bulls is very much likely to reach the playoffs. However, I don't see them going beyond the second round.
