Pennsylvania is one of the hotbeds for major Division I men's basketball programs.

Throughout the years, several Pennsylvania high school basketball stars have gone onto major college basketball programs and some even to the NBA. A few of the most recent examples include Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton and Kobe Bryant.

This article will look at my top five Pennsylvania hoops prospects from the class of 2013.

1. Rondae Jefferson (Chester HS; Chester): The 6-7, 215-pound small forward is one of the top prospects in the nation regardless of position. Jefferson is long, athletic and has a strong upper body. He has a high ceiling as a scorer due to his ability to create. He is also very unselfish.

Jefferson has whittled his college choices down to seven schools. These seven schools are Arizona, Florida, Memphis, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple and Texas.

2. Michael Young (Pittsburgh):The 6-8, 215-pound native Pittsburgher will play for St. Benedict's High School in Newark, NJ in 2012-13. Young is one of the top low post prospects in the nation. He has a high motor and legitimate post moves. Young also runs the floor well and is very strong.

Young verbally committed to Pittsburgh on August 4, 2012. He also had offers from Baylor, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami, Rutgers, Seton Hall and West Virginia.

3. Brandon Austin (Imhotep Charter, Philadelphia): The 6-6, 180-pound guard has the ability to play three positions. Austin is a slasher and penetrator. He is very good around the rim especially in transition where he can use his speed and athleticism. Austin also possesses good ball-handling skills and is an able passer.

Austin de-committed from Penn State on July 22, 2012 though he is still considering the Nittany Lions. Austin has offers from Georgetown, Miami (FL), Penn St., Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee and Villanova. He has also garnered interest from UCLA, Baylor, Ohio St., Florida, Temple, Rutgers, Xavier and Kentucky.

4. Rysheed Jordan (Vaux Roberts HS, Philadelphia): The 6-4, 180-pound point guard is one of the top prospects at his position in the nation. Jordan's specialty is getting to the hoop where he can use his length and athleticism to play above the rim. He is also excellent in transition and is a very good distributor.

Jordan has received offers from Georgetown, Maryland, Kansas, Rutgers and Villanova. He also has drawn interest from UCLA, Temple, Syracuse, St. John's, St. Joseph's and La Salle.

5. Stephen Vasturia (St. Joseph's Prep, Philadelphia): The 6-5, 190-pound guard can play the one or the two. Vasturia has the ability to pick defenses apart with his ball handling and court vision as well as with his precise passing. He also makes good decisions and possesses a nice mid-to-long range game.

Vasturia committed to Notre Dame on October 31, 2011. He also had offers from Boston College, Davidson, Drexel, La Salle, Northwestern, St. Joseph's and Temple.
